What Are Blinkies?

Blinkies are small pixel banners (usually 150x20) that were commonly used in the era of MySpace, Geocities, and other personal websites to add some flair to peoples pages and convey information in a unique & fun way :3 When these sites were no longer around, blinkies fell out of use as personal & customizable sites became less and less popular. Where we're at now with most social media being so sterilized and limited with customization, blinkies are most commonly used here on NeoCities and shared around Tumblr blogs ^_^

Hi, you're currently viewing my blinkies page ^-^ I've collected these from various NeoCities sites, Tumblr blogs, and just general searching around the internet and as such it's very VERY hard to find out who the creators of these blinkies are, but I've done my best to credit where I can! If you know the source for any of these blinkies, please do tell me and I'll add it :3

Small note if you decide to save any of these blinkies: not all of them have the same size! For uniformity's sake I have all the images to show at the same size which is 150x20, however some of the images are 4x this size, at 600x80! Since that's scaled up exactly there's no issue with display, but I figured I'd put this as a note anyways ^-^
