Hello and welcome to my recreation & archive of the Windows95 desktop! This is a (hopefully...) pixel perfect recreation created by me, Luna, for anyone who wants to use it :-) This is a completely free-to-use theme. If you're interested in using this layout for yourself, please go to the Rules of Use page to see what you can & cannot do with this theme, and for the link to get the code!!! You can also explore this page to see various features, or to be made aware of any bugs & issues that I haven't yet managed to fix.

This layout was created & tested on Windows 11 through Firefox in a screen resolution of 1366 x 763. If you notice any issues related to size or appearance, please do let me know! Not meant for viewing on a mobile phone or smaller screens/devices, sorry :-(

Known issues/bugs:

Despite my best efforts, I do admit there are a few issues present with this first version of the theme. Presently, they are:

• Right click menu loses normal functionality
• If the paint window has been dragged to a larger size and is then minimized, it goes back to its start size and not back to its resized state when it is minimized
• Restore button remains there even if a maximized window has been resized smaller
• Clicking the maximize button automatically toggles the text flicker for the maximize/restore box tooltips, and it will NOT turn off
• Slight alignment issues with the filestab submenu on larger screens/if the paintbox has been made larger

I've tried my best to fix these issues, but haven't been able to able to come up with any solutions. So, I open this up to you! Do you have a solution to any of these problems? I do have lots of stuff still in the works for this theme! Please do check back sometimes if you're interested in any of the following features:

• An error page
• A splash page
• A shutdown screen
• Stylesheets for ALL the colour schemes for Windows95, inclusing those from Windows95 PLUS
• Other Windows95 features, such as buttons and tab windows, just for a example
• Icons for the left side to link to external sites
• A version of this layout without JavaScript, that has limited functionality

Additionally, all the other pages I have linked on this home page are currently in the works. I cannot say for sure when I'll have any of these done, so I kindly ask for you to have patience with me!

Future plans for this theme?

One day, I do want to expand this theme to fully emulate ALL of Windows95, complete with a loading screen, multiple window functionality, other boxes, etc., but already this theme got out of hand! I initially intended for it to be only a basic window without a lot of JavaScript, but...well, as you can see it's much more extensive than being a simple window! Seeing as I'm only one person, this will all take me some time. That all being said, if you have any suggestions for future features, please don't be afraid to send me an email with anything you'd want to see and I'll do my best to include it :-)
